Monitoring of HTLV-1-associated diseases by proviral load quantification using multiplex real-time PCR

Evandra Strazza Rodrigues et al.

Summary: In this study, a sensitive multiplex real-time PCR method was successfully optimized for the simultaneous detection and quantification of HTLV-1 proviral load and endogenous gene. The method was found to be effective in monitoring and following up the clinical progression of HTLV-1 disease in infected individuals.

The versatile role of exosomes in human retroviral infections: from immunopathogenesis to clinical application

Jafar Rezaie et al.

Summary: Eukaryotic cells produce extracellular vesicles (EVs) that mediate intercellular communication and are utilized by viruses like HIV-1 and HTLV-1 for spreading and infection. Exosomes from virus-infected cells have the potential to be used for vaccine development and early diagnosis of viral infections. Ongoing research on exosomes shed from virus-infected cells may provide insights into the mechanisms of pathogenesis associated with retroviruses.
