Zinc bioremediation in soil by two isolated L-asparaginase and urease producing bacteria strains

Summary: This study investigated the potential of two native enzyme-producing isolates and Sporosarcina pasteurii in removing zinc (Zn) from contaminated solutions and immobilizing it in soil through the MICCP method. The results showed that the L-asparaginase-producing isolate had the highest efficiency in Zn removal and immobilization. Therefore, the L-asparaginase-based MICCP process can be considered a more environmentally friendly approach for bioremediation of soil heavy metals.
