Occurrence and molecular characterization of Cryptosporidium spp. and Giardia duodenalis among captive mammals in the Bangladesh National Zoo

Molecular epidemiology of Giardia spp. in northern Vietnam: Potential transmission between animals and humans

Summary: This study conducted in the Hien Khanh commune in northern Vietnam aimed to determine the genetic diversity of Giardia spp. in both humans and livestock, assessing the zoonotic potential and transmission dynamics. The findings revealed Giardia spp. assemblage All and E in both animal and human samples, suggesting the first human case report of assemblage E in Vietnam. The unexpected human infections of Giardia assemblages A, B, and E were speculated to be due to an environment contaminated with animal and human feces in the village.
