Cerebellofaciodental syndrome in an adult patient: Expanding the phenotypic and natural history characteristics

Rachel Sayuri Honjo et al.

Summary: Cerebellofaciodental syndrome is a rare genetic condition characterized by facial abnormalities, intellectual disability, cerebellar hypoplasia, and dental anomalies. Whole-exome sequencing identified pathogenic variants in the BRF1 gene, leading to a definitive diagnosis in a Brazilian patient. In addition to previously reported symptoms, novel skeletal anomalies were also identified in this case.

RNA Polymerase III Subunit Mutations in Genetic Diseases

Summary: Pol III transcribes small untranslated RNAs, and mutations in its subunits can lead to specific neurodegenerative diseases and other disorders. While the causal relationship between mutations and disease development is widely accepted, the exact molecular mechanisms underlying disease pathogenesis remain unclear.
