Mesoscale Observational Analysis of Isolated Convection Associated with the Interaction of the Sea Breeze Front and the Gust Front in the Context of the Urban Heat Humid Island Effect

Summary: The study investigated the triggering mechanisms for isolated convections in Tianjin on July 18th, 2019, finding that interactions between the sea breeze front and urban heat island, as well as convergence caused by easterly wind disturbance below 0.6 km, are important dynamic triggering mechanisms for isolated convections. When the sea breeze moves westward and strengthens, it brings water vapor conducive to thunderstorm development, providing sufficient water vapor for isolated thunderstorms. The convection is triggered at the moment when there is a gradual increase in temperature change, offering an important reference for the release of severe convection early warning.
