Microalgae-Based Wastewater Treatment and Recovery with Biomass and Value-Added Products: a Brief Review

Summary: With economic development and population increase, environmental pollution and water shortages have become inevitable global problems. Microalgae-based wastewater treatment technology has attracted more and more attention due to its ability to purify wastewater and produce algal biomass from nutrient elements. This review discusses the current status of microalgae bioremediation of wastewater and the mechanisms by which microalgae remove nutrients and pollutants.
