` Adaptive evolution of microalgae Schizochytrium sp. under high temperature for efficient production of docosahexaeonic acid

Xuechao Hu et al.

Summary: Adaptive laboratory evolution was conducted on Schizochytrium sp. to enhance strain thermotolerance and docosahexaeonic acid (DHA) production, resulting in higher growth rate and lower temperature sensitivity of the adaptive strain. This work successfully increased fermentation temperature by 5 degrees without affecting DHA production, reducing industrial energy consumption cost significantly.
