Hierarchical zeolite for biomass conversion to biofuel: A review

St Mardiana et al.

Summary: The development of biofuel production from biomass is promising, with zeolites emerging as suitable materials for catalyzing biomass conversion. However, the diffusion limitation issues caused by the micropores in zeolites can be addressed by developing hierarchical porosity. Research on hierarchical zeolite catalysts is continuously growing to enhance their performance.

Selective synthesis of high-added value chemicals from α-pinene epoxide and limonene epoxide isomerization over mesostructured catalysts: Effect of the metal loading and solvent

Julian E. Sanchez-Velamdia et al.

Summary: This study investigated the isomerization of α-pinene epoxide and limonene epoxide using Fe or Cu supported catalysts. The choice of metal support and solvent polarity were found to affect the conversion and selectivity of the reactions. It was also observed that Fe supported materials could be reused multiple times without loss of catalytic activity.

Hierarchically porous Beta/SBA-16 with different silica-alumina ratios and the hydrodesulfurization performances of DBT and 4,6-DMDBT

Jin-Lin Mei et al.

Summary: Hierarchically porous Beta/SBA-16 (BS) composite materials were synthesized through a two-step in-situ assembly hydrothermal crystallization method, and NiMo catalysts supported on BS with different silica-alumina ratios were prepared. The catalysts exhibited high hydrodesulfurization activity due to the synergistic effects of various factors.

Hierarchically-Ordered Zeolites: A Critical Assessment

Martin Hartmann et al.

Summary: Hierarchically-ordered zeolites have gained increasing attention in the past 15 years for their outstanding properties in catalytic reactions with industrial relevance. Through the introduction of additional meso- or macropore systems, hierarchical zeolites combine the intrinsic properties of conventional zeolites with facilitated access and transport, showing potential for technical applications.

Summary: This study investigated the vapor phase acylation of guaiacol with acetic acid over various micro, nanocrystalline, and hierarchical MFI and BEA zeolites. The results showed that nanocrystalline and hierarchical MFI zeolites were the most suitable catalysts for the continuous production of HMAPs.

Hierarchical composite catalysts of MCM-41 on zeolite Beta for conversion of heavy reformate to xylenes

Syed A. Ali et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the synthesis and characterization of hierarchical composites of MCM-41 on zeolite Beta for catalytic conversion of heavy reformate into valuable xylenes. Systematic optimization of hierarchical pore generation was achieved by varying the strength of the alkaline solution during disintegration of zeolite Beta. The results show enhanced xylene yield and selectivity, as well as improved catalytic performance with the incorporation of a mild hydrogenation function.
