Potential of ornamental monocot plants for rhizofiltration of cadmium and zinc in hydroponic systems

Sasimar Woraharn et al.

Summary: The research found that in hydroponic systems, E. cordifolius and H. psittacorum x H. spathocircinata have stronger abilities in accumulating and uptaking Cd and Zn compared to P. cordata, making them more suitable for removing Cd and/or Zn from contaminated waters and hydroponic systems.

Review of hydraulics of Floating Treatment Islands retrofitted in waterbodies receiving stormwater

Md Nuruzzaman et al.

Summary: Stormwater pollution results in excessive nutrients and metals in waterbodies, and constructing Floating Treatment Islands (FTIs) is a cost-effective solution. However, the hydraulics of FTIs play a crucial role in treatment efficiency, and more research is needed in this area.

Rhizofiltration of Cadmium and Zinc in Hydroponic Systems

Sasimar Woraharn et al.

Summary: Among the three plants tested, Typha angustifolia demonstrated the best ability for rhizofiltration of cadmium and zinc, with high biomass production and no toxicity symptoms. The other plants showed lower performance, with Pandanus amaryllifolius experiencing phytotoxic effects in the 40 mg Zn L-1 treatment.
