An improved multicomponent pseudopotential lattice Boltzmann method for immiscible fluid displacement in porous media

M. Sedahmed et al.

Summary: In this paper, the authors investigate fluid displacement in a heterogeneous porous medium using an improved numerical model. The model accurately captures the underlying physical phenomena and shows good agreement with experimental results, demonstrating its reliability and applicability.

Experimental characterization and molecular modeling of kerogen in Silurian deep gas shale from southern Sichuan Basin, China

Shan Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, the chemical structure of deep shale kerogen from southern China was characterized and used to build a molecular model. The generated kerogen model can serve as a starting point for further theoretical investigations on fluid storage and transport in organic nanopores of deep shale reservoirs at a microscopic scale.

Direct gas-in-place measurements prove much higher production potential than expected for shale formations

Pedram Mahzari et al.

Summary: Novel high-pressure experimental techniques have demonstrated that gas in deep shale gas reservoirs may be up to five times higher than estimated by industry standard approaches, especially for heavier composition gases. The proposed instrumentation is reliable for quick assessment of gas in place potential, which could be useful for evaluating hydrocarbon reservoirs and geological carbon sequestration potential in a given formation.
