Finite element model for the steel-polymer composite floor filled with phase-change amorphous polymers at elevated temperatures

Min Jae Park et al.

Summary: This study introduced a steel-polymer composite floor filled with PU and investigated its structural and fire performance. A finite element model considering the phase changes of amorphous polymers was proposed to analyze the behavior of the floors. Factors such as porosity and gasification volumetric expansion were found to influence the structural fire behavior of the composite floors.

New approaches for floor vibrations of steel-polymer-steel sandwich floor systems

Min Jae Park et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new approach to evaluate the floor vibration performance of sandwich floor systems by considering shear deformations. The effectiveness of the approach is validated through comparisons with laboratory scale and full-scale tests. The deformation-based approach is recommended for practical design.

Bond Behavior of Concrete-Filled Steel Tube Mega Columns with Different Connectors

Robel Wondimu Alemayehu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the bond-slip behavior between the steel tube and concrete in square CFST mega-columns through a push-out analysis. The results show that mechanical connectors significantly increase the maximum bond stress, with shear studs and rib plate connectors exhibiting the highest bond stress.

Structural Behavior of a Composite Curtain Wall Fabricated by the Fused Deposition Modeling 3D Printing Method

Min Jae Park et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a new type of 3D-printed curtain wall structure that uses a high-strength polymer panel for internal reinforcement, aiming to reduce production costs. The optimal model is selected through shape design and analysis, and the deformation of the structure is compared through testing at different wind speeds.

Fire Resistance Performance of Steel-Polymer Prefabricated Composite Floors Using Standard Fire Tests

Min Jae Park et al.

Summary: The fire resistance performance of steel-polymer prefabricated composite floors with a sandwich-type structure was assessed using standard fire tests and finite element analysis. A structural analysis was conducted based on temperature distributions obtained from thermal analysis. The thickness of the bottom steel plate was found to have a linear correlation with the stability rating, while the top steel plate thickness had no impact on the stability ratings. Equations for stability rating and fire resistance performance were proposed based on the analysis results.
