Novel water- and fertilizer-management strategy: Nutrient-water carrier

Summary: A novel water and fertilizer management strategy, called nutrient-water carrier (NC), was developed in this study. The NC showed excellent water retention and slow-release properties, significantly improving the water holding capacity of sandy loam and positively influencing root length and seedling height of maize. The results indicated that NC could enhance nutrient efficiency, prolong fertilizer release period, decrease irrigation frequency, and mitigate environmental pollution, making it a potential solution for semi-arid and arid areas.

Slow release fertilizer prepared with lignin and poly(vinyl acetate) bioblend

Water-Preserving and Salt-Resistant Slow-Release Fertilizers of Polyacrylic Acid-Potassium Humate Coated Ammonium Dihydrogen Phosphate

Summary: A polyacrylic acid-potassium humate (PAA-KHA) coated ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ADP) fertilizer with water-preserving, salt-resistant, and slow-release properties was prepared and studied. PAA-KHA showed a layered interpenetrating network, increased salty water absorbency by about 3 times compared to PAA, and had excellent slow-release performance. The coated fertilizer exhibited promising potential for improving fertilizer utilization and reducing irrigation water consumption.
