Crystallization of Propene-Pentene Isotactic Copolymers as an Indicator of the General View of the Crystallization Behavior of Isotactic Polypropylene

Miriam Scoti et al.

Summary: Crystallization of metallocene random propene-pentene isotactic copolymers (iPPC5) reveals that pentene defects shorten regular propene sequences, inducing gamma form crystallization. With increasing pentene concentration, incorporation into alpha and trigonal forms stabilizes them over gamma form, decreasing f(gamma)(max). The relationship between f(gamma)(max) and the average length of regular propene sequences of iPPC5 copolymers fits between that of iPPC4 and iPPC6 copolymers, demonstrating different behaviors among copolymers of iPP with various comonomers.

Sequential Crystallization and Multicrystalline Morphology in PE-b-PEO-b-PCL-b-PLLA Tetrablock Quarterpolymers

Eider Matxinandiarena et al.

Summary: Two novel tetrablock quarterpolymers were studied for the first time, revealing different crystallization behaviors and mechanical properties. One of the polymers self-assembled into tetracrystalline banded spherulites during crystallization, impacting its mechanical properties significantly. Additionally, the crystallization sequence of the blocks varied between the two polymers, with different blocks exhibiting distinct characteristics during the process.

Mechanical Properties and Elastic Behavior of Copolymers of Syndiotactic Polypropylene with 1-Hexene and 1-Octene

Miriam Scoti et al.

Summary: The mechanical properties of copolymers of syndiotactic polypropylene with 1-hexene and 1-octene are influenced by the comonomer content, with crystallinity, melting, and glass-transition temperatures decreasing as comonomer content increases. At low comonomer content, elasticity is associated with reversible conformational phase transitions, while at higher comonomer content, elasticity is purely entropic without conformational transformations.

Double Crystallization and Phase Separation in Polyethylene-Syndiotactic Polypropylene Di-Block Copolymers

Claudio De Rosa et al.

Summary: Epitaxial crystallization can control the crystalline orientation of blocks, while using different crystalline substrates can define the final morphology. The polymer block that crystallizes first on the substrate has a significant impact on the final morphology of the block copolymers.

Synthesis, structure and properties of copolymers of syndiotactic polypropylene with 1-hexene and 1-octene

Miriam Scoti et al.

Summary: Syndiotactic propene-hexene and propene-octene copolymers have been synthesized with a syndiospecific metallocene catalyst in various compositions. The copolymers exhibit decreasing crystallinity, melting and glass transition temperatures with increasing comonomer concentrations, influencing their elastic properties. By tuning the branch concentrations, it is possible to manipulate the polymorphic transformations and elastic properties of these copolymers.
