Developing multi-wall carbon nanotubes/Fusion-bonded epoxy powder nanocomposite coatings with superior anti-corrosion and mechanical properties

Shibo Chen et al.

Summary: The study aims to achieve homogeneous dispersion quality of multi-wall carbon nanotubes within fusion-bonded epoxy powder coatings through ball milling and hot melt extrusion. The addition of 0.2 wt% m-MWCNTs improves the corrosion resistance and adhesion strength of the nanocomposite coating. The enhancement in tensile strength by 53.7% due to loading 0.2 wt% m-MWCNTs indicates improved load-transfer and interfacial bonding in the coating.

Modified cellulose-based hybrid materials: Effect of ZnO and CuO nanoparticles on the thermal insulation property

Fatima Ezzahra Bakkardouch et al.

Summary: Cellulose, as the most abundant and renewable biopolymer, has drawn significant attention and will continue to do so in the future due to sustainability trends. This study extracted and functionalized cellulose, blending it with metallic nanoparticles like zinc oxide and copper oxide. The resulting materials showed enhanced thermal stability and insulation performance, with zinc oxide nanoparticles/cellulose demonstrating the highest insulation.

Effects of SiO2 and ZnO Nanoparticles on Epoxy Coatings and Its Performance Investigation Using Thermal and Nanoindentation Technique

Mohammad Asif Alam et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the development of synergistic formulations using nano-pigments to enhance the mechanical properties of epoxy coatings on steel substrates and structures. The incorporation of nano-silica and ZnO particles in the composite led to improved durability and predicted service life of the nanocomposite coatings. Nanoindentation, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction were used to evaluate the mechanical properties and durability of the coatings before and after exposure to a NaCl solution.
