A review on TiO2/SnO2 heterostructures as a photocatalyst for the degradation of dyes and organic pollutants

Rekha B. Rajput et al.

Summary: In recent years, industrialization, civilization, and human activities have led to the discharge of organic pollutants into the environment, causing environmental pollution. To address this issue, the heterogeneous advanced oxidation processes technology, which utilizes highly reactive hydroxyl radicals to degrade organic pollutants, has received significant attention. This paper reviews the synergetic effect of TiO2-SnO2 coupled with other semiconductor materials and their performance in photodegradation of toxic contaminants in an aqueous medium. Additionally, various methods for synthesizing TiO2-SnO2 photocatalysts and the impact of different operating factors on the photodegradation of organic pollutants are discussed.

REE residence, behaviour and recovery from a weathering profile related to the Serra Dourada Granite, Goias/Tocantins States, Brazil

Igor V. Santana et al.

Summary: The study systematically investigates the REE content and distribution of the Serra Dourada Granite, revealing its potential for mineralization. During weathering, LREE mainly reside in the upper and lower horizons while HREE depletion is observed, possibly due to the varying resistance to weathering of LREE- and HREE-enriched minerals in the bedrock and saprolite.
