Managing a closed-loop supply chain with take-back legislation and consumer preference for green design

Bangyi Li et al.

Summary: This study constructs a single-period model for manufacturers to maximize profits under the context of take-back legislation and consumer preference for green product design. The optimal strategies of manufacturers are affected by recycling benefits, mandated recycling rates, and consumer preference for green product design. Strict mandated targets and high consumer preference for green product design may lead to undesirable outcomes.

A comparison of pure manufacturing and hybrid manufacturing-remanufacturing systems under carbon tax policy

Mehmet Alegoz et al.

Summary: This study investigates the sustainability of manufacturing systems and the performance of supply chain actors in terms of economic and environmental measures. Through modeling and analysis under different settings, it is found that manufacturers strategically use manufacturing quantity to compete with retailers or third-party remanufacturers, and typically remanufacture fewer products in comparison.

Industrial Structure Transformation and Layout Optimization of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region under Carbon Emission Constraints

Yi Chai et al.

Summary: In the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, priority development industries are expanding while the competitiveness of moderate development industries is improving. The spatial distribution of industries shows a pattern of concentric rings with priority industries at the core. High- and low-efficiency industries are becoming more concentrated spatially, while medium-efficiency industries are becoming more dispersed. The study proposes a path for industrial structure transformation and layout optimization based on carbon entropy and carbon emission efficiency.

Impact of government subsidy on the remanufacturing industry

Haike Qiao et al.

Summary: The study establishes a game-theoretic model to discuss the impact of government subsidies on remanufacturing activities and industry competition. The results indicate that government subsidies may lead to a decrease in profits and consumer surplus for OEMs and IRs in competitive markets, as well as a decrease in total social surplus. The total environmental impact depends on the relative environmental impact of each unit of remanufactured products.

Electric vehicle battery secondary use under government subsidy: A closed-loop supply chain perspective

Xiaoyu Gu et al.

Summary: The study indicates that government subsidies for secondary users will only be considered when the recycled batteries have relatively high remaining power capacity or a relatively low remanufacturing rate. Under government subsidy regulations, secondary battery users need to determine the quantities of batteries with relatively high power capacity for secondary use.

Which emission reduction mode is the best under the carbon cap-and-trade mechanism?

Hao Liu et al.

Summary: This study examines the optimal choice of emission reduction mode under the carbon cap-and-trade mechanism, finding that the J-ER mode has the greatest impact on emission reduction levels, with firms choosing a mode based on their abatement cost coefficient. Additionally, the J-ER mode generates the highest consumer surplus and social welfare.

Enterprise Production and Emission Reduction Strategy under Carbon Emission Constraint

Simin Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper discusses China's goals to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, as outlined in the 14th Five-Year Development Plan. The study explores optimal production carbon abatement decisions for oligopolistic firms under a cap-and-trade mechanism, showing that companies can efficiently minimize negative impacts through reasonable output and emission reduction investments. However, it also highlights the lack of incentive for companies to further reduce emissions, suggesting the need for additional government incentives or technological investments to encourage further reductions.
