Summary: The prevalence of sleep-disordered breathing, particularly obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), is high in both Western and Eastern countries. In Japan, the number of patients using continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy for OSA has increased significantly. A new guideline was prepared to provide standard medical care based on the latest trends, supervised by various academic societies and referring to previous guidelines. The guideline covers 36 clinical questions and includes therapies and managements for OSA.

Prolonged Sleep Latency and Reduced REM Latency Are Associated with Depressive Symptoms in a Japanese Working Population

Summary: This study used home EEG measurements and questionnaire survey to identify the association between depressive symptoms and sleep latency and REM latency. The results suggest that depressive symptoms are associated with prolonged sleep latency and reduced REM latency in a Japanese working population.
