Addressing Hispanic Obesity Disparities Using a Community Health Worker Model Grounded in Motivational Interviewing

Louis D. Brown et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine if Hispanic residents receiving the Healthy Fit intervention enhanced with Motivational Interviewing (MI) experienced greater improvements in body composition. Results showed that participants receiving MI had higher odds of weight loss and reduced body fat percentage compared to those receiving the initial intervention, suggesting that the use of MI is promising for promoting incremental changes in diet and exercise.
