Changes in the Tree-Ring Width-Derived Cumulative Normalized Difference Vegetation Index over Northeast China during 1825 to 2013 CE

Ruoshi Liu et al.

Summary: This study presents a 189-year vegetation coverage series based on Mongolian pine cores from the central-western Da Hinggan Mountains, northeastern China. The relationship between tree-ring width and the cumulative normalized difference vegetation index (CNDVI) was found significant, with variations linked to climate factors. The study shows fluctuations in CNDVI associated with temperature, precipitation, and drought severity, with noticeable trends in the region from 1950 to 2002 CE and an increase post-2003 CE related to climate change in Asia.

Fine-Scale NDVI Reconstruction Back to 1906 from Tree-Rings in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem

Hang Li et al.

Summary: This study used tree-ring width and normalized difference vegetation index to establish a model, reconstruct annual vegetation index maps, and discovered trends of forest decline and regime shifts. The research showed a decrease in vegetation density over the past 100 years and identified several major regime shifts caused by significant climate events.

Vegetation Index Reconstruction and Linkage with Drought for the Source Region of the Yangtze River Based on Tree-ring Data

Jinjian Li et al.

Summary: The study reconstructed the NDVI for a specific region from 1665 to 2013 and found significant growth and degradation stages, as well as cycles of 2-3 yr and 3-8 yr. There was a strong positive correlation between NDVI and PDSI over the past 349 years, with notable asymmetries in extreme drought and wet years.

Tree-Ring Width Data of Tsuga longibracteata Reveal Growing Season Temperature Signals in the North-Central Pearl River Basin since 1824 AD

Teng Li et al.

Summary: By analyzing the tree-ring width chronology of Tsuga longibracteata in the north-central Pearl River basin, a reconstruction of the growing season temperatures for the past 193 years was successfully achieved. The reconstruction identified three major warm and cold periods, and comparisons with other proxy records suggest the representation of large-scale temperature variations. Significant correlations with sea surface temperatures in different ocean domains indicate a strong influence on the growing season temperature change in the Pearl River basin.
