Clinical and Genetic Characteristics of 17 α-Hydroxylase/17, 20-Lyase Deficiency: c.985_987delTACinsAA Mutation of CYP17A1 Prevalent in the Chinese Han Population

Junke Xia et al.

Summary: This study provided a detailed description of the clinical and genetic characteristics in Chinese patients with 17-OHD, and found that the Y329Lfs* mutation of CYP17A1 is prevalent in the Chinese Han population, which could contribute to the rapid diagnosis of 17-OHD in China. Genetic counseling based on the genetic diagnosis for at-risk relatives is advised.

Mitonuclear interactions and introgression genomics of macaque monkeys (Macaca) highlight the influence of behaviour on genome evolution

Ben J. Evans et al.

Summary: In most macaques, females are philopatric while males migrate, leading to divergence of mitochondrial genomes. Analysis revealed evidence of natural selection associated with mitonuclear interactions and gender differences in gene flow shaping genome evolution.

Mitonuclear conflict in a macaque species exhibiting phylogenomic discordance

Nick P. Bailey et al.

Summary: Speciation and hybridization are intertwined processes in evolution research. Genetic conflicts between mitochondrial and nuclear genes may result in reduced viability and fertility in offspring. A study on bear macaques found evidence of mitonuclear discordance causing genomic conflict, with mitochondrial tRNA synthetases potentially being targets of selection.
