Evaluating end-of-life chemotherapy for solid tumor and hematologic malignancy patients

Laura Van Metre Baum et al.

Summary: Despite guidelines, end-of-life chemotherapy is common, especially in hematologic malignancy patients. Patients with solid malignancy were more likely to receive a palliative care consultation and less likely to die in intensive care, with lower likelihood of dying from a treatment-related cause. Chemotherapy was administered closer to death in hematologic malignancy patients, with a focus on curative intent.
