Skyrmion Logic-In-Memory Architecture for Maximum/Minimum Search

Luca Gnoli et al.

Summary: This paper presents a Logic-In-Memory (LIM) architecture based on a non-volatile skyrmion-based racetrack memory, aimed at addressing the limitations caused by limited memory bandwidth and the performance gap between memory and logic in computing systems. The architecture can be used as both a memory and for advanced logic functions, showcasing small area and good energy efficiency compared to a reference CMOS implementation.

Helium Ions Put Magnetic Skyrmions on the Track

Romeo Juge et al.

Summary: Magnetic skyrmions can be successfully created and guided in racetrack devices using focused He+-ion-irradiation, leading to stable and isolated skyrmions. By tuning the magnetic properties, the maximum skyrmion velocity can be enhanced, suppressing the skyrmion Hall effect and opening up new possibilities for practical applications.
