Serum aromatic and branched-chain amino acids associated with NASH demonstrate divergent associations with serum lipids

Vanessa D. de Mello et al.

Summary: This study investigated the serum metabolite profile in relation to NAFLD-associated metabolic risk factors using a non-targeted metabolomics approach. The results showed that the AAAs and BCAAs related to NASH demonstrate divergent associations with serum lipids. Specifically, tryptophan correlated with LDL-c, potentially due to molecular events affecting LDLR mRNA expression and methylation of genes associated with NASH.

The complex link between NAFLD and type 2 diabetes mellitus - mechanisms and treatments

Giovanni Targher et al.

Summary: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) have a complex relationship with each other, influencing the risk of adverse clinical outcomes. The severity of NAFLD is directly related to the risk of developing T2DM, while improvement of NAFLD may lower the risk of T2DM.

Positive Effects of Exercise Intervention without Weight Loss and Dietary Changes in NAFLD-Related Clinical Parameters: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Ambrin Farizah Babu et al.

Summary: Exercise may have a beneficial effect on alleviating NAFLD, even without significant weight loss. Aerobic exercise alone significantly reduces intrahepatic lipid content, ALT, and AST; resistance training alone significantly reduces TC and TG; a combination of both exercise types significantly reduces intrahepatic lipid content.
