Modifiable and unmodifiable factors associated with slow flow following rotational atherectomy

Summary: Slow flow during rotational atherectomy is positively associated with unmodifiable factors such as lesion length and angulation, and inversely associated with reference diameter. It is also positively associated with modifiable factors including initial burr-to-artery ratio and use of beta blockers, and inversely associated with primary RA strategy, short single run, and systolic blood pressure just before RA. Application of these findings could lead to improved RA procedures.

Summary: The study compared the incidence of PMI between PCI with and without RA, finding that although the RA group had a higher incidence of slow flow and PMI before propensity score matching, the incidence of PMI was similar between the matched RA and non-RA groups after matching, indicating that RA did not increase the risk of myocardial damage in complex lesions.
