Demonstration of an optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) material with reduced quenching for proton therapy dosimetry: MgB4O7:Ce,Li

E. G. Yukihara et al.

Summary: The objective of this study is to demonstrate that MgB4O7:Ce,Li, a new OSL dosimetric material, has improved response for proton therapy dosimetry and shows less reduction in luminescence detector efficiency with particle linear energy transfer (LET).

Dual-storage phosphor proton therapy dosimetry: Simultaneous quantification of dose and linear energy transfer

Jufri Setianegara et al.

Summary: The study investigated the feasibility of using high Z(eff) storage phosphor material BaFBrI:Eu2+ in combination with low Z(eff) material KCl:Eu2+ for simultaneous proton dose and LET measurements. The results showed that BaFBr0.85I0.15:Eu2+ performed equally well as KCl:Eu2+ in dosimetry, with LET dependence resulting from its higher Z(eff). These promising findings open up possibilities for future studies involving simultaneous proton dose and LET measurements using this novel approach.

Al2O3:C optically stimulated luminescence dosimeters (OSLDs) for ultra-high dose rate proton dosimetry

Jeppe Brage Christensen et al.

Summary: The Al2O3:C optically stimulated luminescence detectors were found to be dose rate independent and applicable for radiobiological experiments in proton beams at ultra-high dose rates, with minimal deviation from nominal doses. Two setups for ultra-high dose rate experiments were presented, as well as a new method to extract beam spot size of narrow pencil beams.

A systematic review on the usage of averaged LET in radiation biology for particle therapy

Fredrik Kalholm et al.

Summary: Different definitions of averaged LET may have a significant impact on reported values, highlighting the need for more clarity in defining and using LET in radiation research. Unclear definitions of averaged LET can lead to inconsistencies in reported values and RBE models based on LET. Improved reporting methods for LET values are recommended for future studies to enhance the accuracy of data analysis.
