Experimental validation of genetic selection for resistance against Streptococcus agalactiae via different routes of infection in the commercial Nile tilapia breeding programme

Rajesh Joshi et al.

Summary: This study validated the genetic selection for resistance to streptococcosis in a commercial population of Nile tilapia and compared the effects of different infection routes on genomic parameters and response to selection. Genetic selection significantly reduced mortality risk, with selection for resistance leading to a 65% reduction in mortality risk compared to unselected lines. The study found that genetic selection changed the impact of infection routes and resulted in a gain of 3.04 +/- 1.25 days as selection response.

Prevention and Control of Streptococcosis in Tilapia Culture: A Systematic Review

Sahya Maulu et al.

Summary: Tilapia culture is a promising industry, but disease outbreaks pose a threat. Streptococcosis is a major bacterial disease affecting tilapia production globally. Preventive and control measures should be prioritized, with a need for further research to address existing gaps.
