Summary: This study in rats showed that intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) can lead to dysfunctional myogenic tone and increased endothelium-dependent relaxation in renal interlobar arteries, potentially increasing vulnerability to hypertensive glomerular damage in male offspring. The offspring of IUGR rats also exhibited mild arterial hypertension, glomerular hypertrophy, and elevated urinary protein-to-creatinine ratio, indicating potential renal damage after IUGR.
