Centenarian-Sourced Lactobacillus casei Combined with Dietary Fiber Complex Ameliorates Brain and Gut Function in Aged Mice

Minhong Ren et al.

Summary: This study found that supplementation of Lactobacillus casei LTL1361 and dietary fiber complex (DFC) can improve cognitive ability, alleviate oxidative stress and inflammation in the brain, improve gut barrier function, and increase short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) concentrations and gene expression of SCFA receptors. The protective effect was enhanced when LTL1361 and DFC were used together. These results suggest that Lactobacillus casei LTL1361 and DFC may be promising anti-aging agents.

Lactobacillus plantarum KLDS1.0344 and Lactobacillus acidophilus KLDS1.0901 Mixture Prevents Chronic Alcoholic Liver Injury in Mice by Protecting the Intestinal Barrier and Regulating Gut Microbiota and Liver-Related Pathways

Huizhen Li et al.

Summary: The Lactobacillus mixture improved intestinal permeability, reduced serum levels of lipopolysaccharides (LPS), and inhibited liver lipid accumulation, oxidative stress, and inflammation by regulating key pathways. Additionally, the Lactobacillus mixture modulated the gut microbiota, increasing SCFA producers and decreasing Gram-negative bacteria, thereby protecting the liver from alcohol-induced damage.

Lactobacillus casei Zhang exerts probiotic effects to antibiotic-treated rats

Guoqiang Yao et al.

Summary: The study showed that probiotics can help restore the balance of host gut microbiota and metabolome after antibiotic treatment, with increases in certain microbial populations and short-chain fatty acid levels after antibiotic and probiotic intervention, beneficial bacteria P. goldsteinii strongly correlated with lactobacilli, and probiotics also reduced inflammation levels in rats.
