Comparison of Test Methods for Determining the Tensile Strength of Soil and Weak Rocks

Rong Wang et al.

Summary: Tensile strength is a key factor in the cracking and failure of soil or rock mass. New test methods like IHFT and HCT have advantages over traditional methods like UDTT, BT, and TPBT when it comes to testing soil and weak rocks, as they can overcome eccentric force issues and produce reproducible and stable results. HCT is found to be more suitable for routine laboratory testing due to its simpler procedure, stable results, and uniform stress distribution within specimens.

Effect of fiber dispersion, content and aspect ratio on tensile strength of PP fiber reinforced soil

Shixin He et al.

Summary: This study investigated the tensile strength characteristics of polypropylene fiber reinforced soil under different fiber dispersion, content and aspect ratio conditions. Results showed that fiber content and aspect ratio have significant effects on tensile strength, with aspect ratio having the greatest influence on the forecasting model.
