Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines on Solid-State Mesoporous Matrices as Catalysts in Oxidation Reactions

Simple modification of titanium(IV) oxide for the preparation of a reusable photocatalyst

Summary: The study developed new photocatalysts based on titania and metallated phthalocyanines for potential use in photodecomposition of environmental pollutants. The materials showed high efficiency in removing pharmaceutical residues, with copper(II) phthalocyanine achieving 92% removal of ibuprofen within six hours and zinc(II) phthalocyanine decomposing 94% of naproxen within two hours. Furthermore, the photocatalysts were proven to be safe and non-mutagenic in acute toxicity assays, demonstrating their usefulness in photoremediation.

Single-atom catalysts based on two-dimensional metalloporphyrin monolayers for ammonia synthesis under ambient conditions

Summary: In this study, we systematically investigated the catalytic performance of transition metals anchored onto two-dimensional porphyrin substrates for nitrogen reduction reaction. Through computational calculations and screening, we identified four novel metalloporphyrin single-atom catalysts with excellent catalytic performance. The high catalytic activity of these catalysts is attributed to significant orbital hybridization and charge transfer between N-2 and the catalysts.
