Quantifying the Finest Particles in Dust Fractions Created During the Sanding of Untreated and Thermally Modified Beech Wood

Jerzy Majka et al.

Summary: This article examines the fractionation of wood dust after sanding, comparing untreated wood dust to thermally modified wood dust. The results show that both types of wood dust have similar particle size distributions and that all fractions contain the finest particles that are suspendable in the air.

Experimental investigation on filtration characteristic with different filter material of bag dust collector for dust removal

Xi Chen et al.

Summary: This study compared and analyzed the performance parameters of seven filter materials, and found that membrane filter materials have a gentler increase in resistance, while the dust removal efficiency of PTFE filter materials for dust particles between 6.5-23 microns increases with increasing filtering wind speed.

Influence of pulse-jet cleaning interval on performance of compact dust collector with pleated filter

Kazuki Furumoto et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of pulse-jet cleaning interval on the filtration performance of a pleated filter, finding that the effective filtration area decreased over time regardless of the interval length. Increasing the interval could help suppress the reduction in effective filtration area. The resistance coefficient of the filter media increased with decreasing pulse-jet interval, which in turn improved total dust collection efficiency.

Granulometric Characterization of Wood Dust Emission from CNC Machining of Natural Wood and Medium Density Fiberboard

Richard Kminiak et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the particle size composition of wood dust emission from CNC milling of natural wood and MDF, and evaluate the associated occupational exposure risks. Results showed that machining natural wood and MDF resulted in different dust particle size distributions, which can be used to optimize the technological programs of CNC milling machines to reduce occupational exposure in the wood-processing industry.
