Post-treatment of reactive dyed cotton fabrics by caustic mercerization and liquid ammonia treatment

Yonghong Liang et al.

Summary: The study systematically examined the effects of caustic mercerization (C-M) and liquid ammonia (L-A) treatments on properties of reactively dyed cotton fabrics. The treatments resulted in improved color strength and color uniformity while reducing reflectance. Additionally, the wash and rub fastness of the fabrics were enhanced post-treatment.

Summary: The study reveals that liquid transport in textiles does not occur through the spaces between yarns, but rather through the contact points. Additionally, a wicking length-time superposition was observed, where liquid first wicked within a single yarn before spilling over to adjacent yarns with a time offset.
