Comprehensive Assessment of Coronary Calcification in Intravascular OCT Using a Spatial-Temporal Encoder-Decoder Network

Chao Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a fully automated method based on convolutional neural networks (CNN) was proposed to segment and quantify coronary calcification in intravascular OCT (IVOCT) images. The method achieved better results compared to existing state-of-the-art methods and showed close agreement with manual calcification measurements. The proposed method has significant value for automated assessment of coronary calcification lesions and procedure planning.

New prediction tools and treatment for ACS patients with plaque erosion

Rocco Vergallo et al.

Summary: Research has shown that acute coronary syndromes (ACS) are primarily caused by occlusive thrombosis, with better long-term prognosis in patients with plaque erosion. Dual antiplatelet therapy can help stabilize these patients without the need for stenting, reducing costs and complications associated with invasive procedures. Predicting plaque erosion accurately and identifying specific biomarkers for point-of-care use without invasive imaging would bring us closer to achieving precision medicine in ACS patients.

Optical flow ratio for assessing stenting result and physiological significance of residual disease

Daixin Ding et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the accuracy of Optical flow ratio (OFR) in predicting post-PCI FFR and the impact of stent expansion on within-stent OFR pressure drop. The results showed good correlation between post-PCI OFR and FFR, significant correlation between simulated residual OFR and post-PCI FFR, and moderate correlation between stent underexpansion and in-stent pressure drop.
