Artificial synapses based on Josephson junctions with Fe nanoclusters in the amorphous Ge barrier

Emilie Jue et al.

Summary: This study measured the synaptic properties of a magnetic Josephson junction (MJJ) consisting of size-selected Fe nanoclusters in an amorphous Ge barrier between two Nb electrodes. The critical current of the device was found to vary with the magnetic order of the clusters and could be tuned using short electrical pulses. This result is significant as it eliminates the need for postdeposition annealing in synaptic MJJs for neuromorphic applications and opens up possibilities for material optimization and better understanding of the device physics.

Non-parametric machine learning methods for interpolation of spatially varying non-stationary and non-Gaussian geotechnical properties

Chao Shi et al.

Summary: This study proposed an ensemble RBFN method that can quantify prediction uncertainty in spatial interpolation and compared it with two other non-parametric data-driven approaches. The results showed that the proposed method provides better estimation of spatial patterns and associated prediction uncertainty when a reasonable amount of data is available as input. The prediction accuracy of all three methods improves as the number of measurements increases, with BCS showing less sensitivity to the number of measurement data and outperforming RBFN and MPS when only limited point observations are available.

Learning cell for superconducting neural networks

Andrey Schegolev et al.

Summary: This study introduces an energy-efficient adiabatic learning neuro cell for on-chip learning of adiabatic superconducting artificial neural networks. The static and dynamic characteristics of the learning cell have been researched, and optimization of its parameters was conducted through simulations of a multi-layer neural network with the resilient propagation method.

Extraordinary kinetic inductance of superconductor/ferromagnet/normal metal thin strip in an Fulde-Ferrell state

P. M. Marychev et al.

Summary: By calculating the kinetic inductance of a thin superconductor/ferromagnet/normal metal strip in an in-plane FF state, we found that it diverges at the transition temperatures to FF and superconducting states, as well as at finite magnetic fields. Additionally, the presence of metastable and ground states in the FF state results in a complex dependence of the kinetic inductance on current, making it useful for applications involving temperature, current and magnetic field dependence.
