The combined effect of stress and corrosion on mild steel

Li Le et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of different levels of tensile stress on corrosion growth and mechanical properties of steel, with results showing that plastic stress can accelerate corrosion and lead to corrosion-induced delamination. Over time, steel under plastic stress exhibits higher degrees of mechanical property degradation and faster growth of corrosion penetration depth.

Effect of interaction between corrosion and high temperature on mechanical properties of Q355 structural steel

Chuntao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of the interaction between corrosion and high temperature on the mechanical properties of Q355 structural steel. It is found that the interaction significantly affects the mechanical properties, leading to a decrease in yield strength and ultimate strength, while an increase in reduction of ductility. A parameter theta is proposed to effectively evaluate this interaction.

Influence of elemental sulfur on the corrosion mechanism of X80 steel in supercritical CO2-saturated aqueous phase environment

Qingjun Gong et al.

Summary: The corrosion rate of X80 steel decreased and pitting occurred in the presence of sulfur, which could induce an acid regeneration cycle reaction and occluded corrosion defects. Additionally, FeS gradually replaced FeCO3 to protect the substrate in the sulfur-containing environment.
