Optimizing Supercritical Carbon Dioxide in the Bacterial Inactivation and Cleaning of Sheep Wool Fiber by Using Response Surface Methodology

Faisal Aboelkasim Allafi et al.

Summary: In this study, supercritical carbon dioxide was used as a waterless technology to clean sheep wool fiber and inactivate bacteria, with optimal conditions determined for maximum bacteria inactivation and whiteness index improvement. The results showed that the technology could effectively impact bacteria inactivation and the whiteness index of sheep wool fiber.

Sound absorption and thermal insulation characteristics of fabrics made of pure and crossbred sheep waste wool

Zahra Mohammadi Ghermezgoli et al.

Summary: The study showed that crossbreeding improved fiber fineness and subsequently enhanced the sound absorption performance of woolen fabrics. Fabrics made from waste wool demonstrated better thermal insulation effects, and were found to have comparable acoustic and thermal properties to traditional mineral/wool and glass fiber materials. Waste wool was highlighted as an environmentally friendly insulation material that is also cost-effective, biodegradable, and readily available.
