An early introduction to surgical skills: Validating a low-cost laparoscopic skill training program purpose built for undergraduate medical education

Summary: The study showed that a low-cost training program using DIY box trainers is as effective as commercially available equipment in introducing laparoscopic skills to medical students. Performance improvements were demonstrated in both groups, with no significant difference between them in any task.
