Reactive electrochemical membrane for the elimination of carbamazepine in secondary effluent from wastewater treatment plant

Oleksandra Ganzenko et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the feasibility of using a sub-stoichiometric titanium oxides reactive electrochemical membrane for the treatment of secondary effluent from a wastewater treatment plant. By testing different operating parameters, it was found that a higher current density led to a higher limiting value of TOC flux above which efficiency decreased. By decreasing the current density, it was possible to control the formation of toxic chlorine-containing by-products. Optimal degradation of carbamazepine and mineralization were achieved with specific conditions, showing the potential for efficient treatment with low energy consumption.

Direct electron transfer (DET) processes in a flow anode system-Energy-efficient electrochemical oxidation of phenol

Jiangzhou Xie et al.

Summary: The study investigates the DET process in flow anode systems, where the use of carbon black as a flow anode material enhances the DET rate, while low solution conductivity has a negative effect on the process. DET rates depend on the specific anode current collector used. Phenol can be degraded with low energy consumption in a flow anode system.
