Effect of the contact tank geometry on disinfection efficiency

P. Bruno et al.

Summary: Disinfection is a sanitary treatment aimed at removing pathogenic microorganisms in water, and optimizing the hydrodynamics inside the disinfection tank can improve disinfection efficiency. Large Eddy Simulation experiments show that the geometry of baffles and design details can influence disinfectant retention time, with the creation of horizontal baffles reducing turbulent flow and improving disinfection efficiency.
