SEENS: Nuclei segmentation in Pap smear images with selective edge enhancement

Meng Zhao et al.

Summary: The paper introduces a new Selective-Edge-Enhancement-based Nuclei Segmentation method (SEENS) which integrates selective search with mathematical operators to segment cervical images into regions of interest (ROI), and utilizes edge enhancement with canny operator and mathematical morphology to improve accuracy in nucleus edge enhancement. The SEENS method shows higher accuracy in cervical nuclei segmentation, especially in low-contrast scenarios compared to baseline methods.

Efficient deep learning architecture with dimension-wise pyramid pooling for nuclei segmentation of histopathology images

Anirudh Ashok Aatresh et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel framework (Kidney-SegNet) that combines an attention based encoder-decoder architecture with highly efficient dimension-wise convolutions. The segmentation results of Kidney-SegNet outperform existing state-of-the-art deep learning methods on kidney and TNBC breast H&E stained histopathology image datasets. Simulation experiments show that the computational complexity and memory requirement of Kidney-SegNet is very efficient compared to existing deep learning methods for nuclei segmentation of H&E stained histopathology images.
