The identification of novel immunogenic antigens as potential Shigella vaccine components

Ruklanthi de Alwis et al.

Summary: Using reverse vaccinology approach, 234 predicted immunogenic Shigella antigens were identified through core genome analysis of Shigella species, pathogenic and non-pathogenic E. coli. These antigens displayed IgG and IgA seroconversion, with several showing potential in producing binding IgG and bactericidal antibody. This study provides potential novel immunogenic Shigella proteins for vaccine development.
