Analysis of the Safety of Pegfilgrastim Addition in Bleomycin, Etoposide, and Cisplatin Treatment Patients With Germ Cell Tumors

Ryunosuke Nakagawa et al.

Summary: This study investigated the safety of pegfilgrastim during BEP therapy. The results showed that compared to using short-acting G-CSF, the use of pegfilgrastim significantly increased the peak neutrophil count, reduced the incidence and duration of grade 3-4 neutropenia, and had no significant difference in the incidence of febrile neutropenia.

The Effect of Neutropenia and Filgrastim (G-CSF) on Cancer Patients With Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Infection

Allen W. Zhang et al.

Summary: The use of G-CSF in cancer patients with COVID-19 may increase the risk of hospitalization, respiratory failure, and death. Careful consideration should be given to the potential risks and benefits of G-CSF treatment in neutropenic cancer patients with COVID-19.

Emerging challenges in the evaluation of fever in cancer patients at risk of febrile neutropenia in the era of COVID-19: a MASCC position paper

Tim Cooksley et al.

Summary: Cancer patients are at higher risk for severe COVID-19 infection and associated complications, requiring special attention in management and prevention. Screening interviews and telemedicine play important roles in preventing infection spread and monitoring infected patients from home. Managing complications of anticancer treatments, particularly febrile neutropenia, is crucial in minimizing infection risk and hospital visits during the pandemic.

A Multicenter Analysis of the Outcome of Cancer Patients with Neutropenia and COVID-19 Optionally Treated with Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF): A Comparative Analysis

Maria Sereno et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the use of G-CSF treatment in neutropenic cancer patients infected with COVID-19 may lead to poor outcomes. The number of days on G-CSF treatment was associated with a higher risk of mortality in these patients.
