Nanotubes from Ternary WS2(1-X)Se2X Alloys: Stoichiometry Modulated Tunable Optical Properties

M. B. Sreedhara et al.

Summary: Nanotubes of transition metal dichalcogenides offer unique properties and potential applications. Replacing sulfur by selenium can yield ternary nanotubes with strong modulation in absorption edge. Solid oxide nanowhiskers were used as a sacrificial template to obtain high yield nanotubes. The nanotubes showed modulated lattice structure and chemical composition, exhibiting strong light-matter interactions and non-linear optical properties.

Phase plates in the transmission electron microscope: operating principles and applications

Marek Malac et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the current state of phase plate imaging in a transmission electron microscope, with a focus on the hole-free phase plate design, also known as the Volta phase plate. The implementation, operating principles, and applications of phase plate imaging are discussed, along with an imaging theory accounting for inelastic scattering in both the sample and phase plate.

A Detailed Investigation of the Onion Structure of Exchanged Coupled Magnetic Fe3-δO4@CoFe2O4@Fe3-δO4 Nanoparticles

Kevin Sartori et al.

Summary: This study reports the design of nanoparticles with an uncommon onion-like structure, demonstrating the significant impact of modifying the chemical composition and size of the Fe3-delta O4 core and the thickness of the cobalt ferrite shell on magnetic properties. The growth of the iron oxide shell markedly modifies the magnetic properties of the core-shell nanoparticles, highlighting the high potential of onion-like nanoparticles in tuning magnetic properties for specific applications.
