Designing a sustainable freight transportation network with cross-docks

D. G. Mogale et al.

Summary: This study aims to develop a sustainable freight transportation network using capacitated cross-docks to minimize overall supply chain costs. A mathematical model is developed to consider challenges such as time-dependent demand, multiple products and sourcing, and distribution. The study utilizes a two-level self-adaptive variable neighbourhood search algorithm to solve this complex problem.

Multi-objective modelling of sustainable closed-loop supply chain network with price-sensitive demand and consumer's incentives

D. G. Mogale et al.

Summary: This study develops a multi-objective optimization model for sustainable closed-loop supply chain network problem. The proposed model considers the inherent complexity of the supply chain and factors such as price-sensitive demand, consumer's incentives, and different quality levels of the product. The results show that the proposed two-stage algorithm provides robust outcomes and is computationally less expensive. The study emphasizes the positive effects of incentive pricing in the reverse logistics network.

Sustainable multi-commodity capacitated facility location problem with complementarity demand functions

Weiwei Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a multi-commodity capacitated facility location problem with sustainability concerns and a complementarity demand function is investigated. It is shown that incorporating this demand function can lead to superior decisions both analytically and computationally. The problem is transformed into a 0-1 mixed-integer concave program using the piecewise-linear envelope method, and an efficient branch-and-refine algorithm with global convergence is proposed. Numerical examples demonstrate the impact of carbon emission limit and carbon trading on company decisions.
