Droplet based microfluidic device integrated with ink jet printed three electrode system for electrochemical detection of ascorbic acid

Summary: In this study, a droplet based microfluidic electrochemical device was fabricated using inexpensive technique, which showed high throughput, low sample volumes, minimum cross contamination, lower energy demands, and shorter analysis times. The electrochemical detection of ascorbic acid was successfully implemented under specific conditions, such as lower flow rate and certain parameter settings.

Salty Biofluidic Sample Clean-Up and Preconcentration with a Paper-Based Ion Concentration Polarization Interface

Summary: Charged species from complex media can be separated and enriched using the ion concentration polarization (ICP) effect, making it possible to directly process salty physiological samples such as blood and urine. A novel and reliable ICP interface was successfully established on a paper-based analytical device (PAD) for the electrokinetic stacking of target analytes, with promising results for online stacking of total protein from urine samples and image-based colorimetric detection by a smartphone camera.

Summary: Ion concentration polarization (ICP) is a preconcentration technique with the potential for high preconcentration factor, but faces challenges of instability and low efficiency under physiological conditions. A sequentially driven ICP process has been proposed to enhance the preconcentration of highly ionic raw samples without increasing the electric field, resulting in significant preconcentration factor and signal enhancement in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using tau protein.
