Selected root plant supplementation reduces indices of exercise-induced muscle damage: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Kenji Doma et al.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the effects of selected root plants on markers of muscle damage and muscular performance measures. The results showed that selected root plants reduced the levels of muscle damage markers and muscle soreness, but the effects on oxidative stress and antioxidant status were inconclusive.

The Effect of Creatine Supplementation on Markers of Exercise-Induced Muscle Damage: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Human Intervention Trials

Bethany Northeast et al.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis found that creatine supplementation does not accelerate recovery following exercise-induced muscle damage, although it may attenuate creatine kinase activity in some cases. Further well-controlled studies with larger sample sizes are needed to verify these conclusions.

Acute and Delayed Effects of Time-Matched Very Short All Out Efforts in Concentric vs. Eccentric Cycling

Daniel Boullosa et al.

Summary: This study compared acute responses to all out efforts in concentric vs. eccentric cycling, revealing that concentric cycling induced larger mechanical and cardiometabolic responses. Perceptual responses to both protocols were similar, with an immediate potentiation of vertical jump after concentric cycling and slight increases in muscle soreness and thigh circumference only 24 hours after eccentric cycling.
