Measurement of nitrogen dioxide and nitric oxide densities by using CEAS (cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy) in nonthermal atmospheric pressure air plasma

Young J. Hong et al.

Summary: Nonthermal atmospheric pressure plasmas play a significant role in biomedicine and agriculture, with radical density serving as a key parameter. Nitrogen dioxide and nitric oxide radicals are important species in these applications and can be measured using cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy (CEAS). The radical densities can be calculated through the Beer-Lambert law, utilizing visible LED and mid-infrared LD for measurement.

Ppb-level detection of methane based on an optimized T-type photoacoustic cell and a NIR diode laser

Zhenfeng Gong et al.

Summary: This paper introduces an optimized T-type resonant photoacoustic cell for methane gas detection, evaluating its performance using finite element method and thermoviscous acoustic theory. The system, including NIR DFB laser source, high-speed spectrometer, and fiber-optic acoustic sensor, achieves high sensitivity and a minimum detectable limit.

Surface-Enhanced Infrared Absorption Spectroscopic Chalcogenide Waveguide Sensor Using a Silver Island Film

Mingquan Pi et al.

Summary: A surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopic chalcogenide waveguide sensor based on the silver island film was proposed for enhanced sensing performance in both liquid and gas phases. The sensor integrated with a 1.8 nm-thick silver island film showed the best performance, with absorbance enhancement factors experimentally obtained for ethanol and methane. The mathematical relation between absorbance enhancement factor and waveguide loss was derived, and a rectangular waveguide sensor was suggested as an alternative for sensor-on-a-chip design to reduce fabrication accuracy requirements.

A Fire Warning Method Using Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy

Lin Feng et al.

Summary: Tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) technology is used to detect fire gas in the early stage of a fire, and a fire warning detection system with multiple lasers and detectors is proposed. Multiple drivers input data to keep the output wavelength consistent with the measured gas' absorption peak wavelengths, achieving early fire warning.
