Detection of impurities in wheat using terahertz spectral imaging and convolutional neural networks

Yin Shen et al.

Summary: The study proposed a method combining terahertz spectral imaging and convolutional neural network (CNN) for rapid and effective detection of impurities in wheat. The designed Wheat-V2 model showed superior performance in recognizing various impurities, demonstrating the potential of using CNN in terahertz imaging for impurity detection in wheat and possibly other grains.

An origin identification model for labeling of shiitake (Lentinula edodes)

Ill-Min Chung et al.

Summary: This study highlights the limitations of the current origin labeling system for non-soil-based agricultural products, particularly mushrooms. A new origin identification model based on stable isotope ratio analysis is proposed to accurately determine the geographical origin of shiitake mushrooms, with a high classification sensitivity and overall accuracy. This suggests the need for revising the current labeling system to ensure fair trade and prevent mislabeling in the global shiitake market.
