Scalable and hierarchically designed polymer film as a selective thermal emitter for high-performance all-day radiative cooling

Duo Li et al.

Summary: Traditional cooling systems consume a lot of energy and worsen the greenhouse effect. On the other hand, passive radiative cooling, which dissipates heat through an atmospheric transparency window to outer space without using any energy, has gained attention for its potential in reducing energy consumption and its impact on the environment.

Passive daytime radiative cooling inorganic-polymeric composite artificial lawn for the alternative to the natural lawn

Zhangbin Yang et al.

Summary: Efficient passive cooling of artificial lawns is crucial for athletic experience. In this study, a novel inorganic-polymeric composite using chromium oxide particles embedded in high-density polyethylene was demonstrated to significantly lower the temperature of artificial lawns, on par with natural lawns. Additionally, the use of titanium dioxide to enhance reflectance without affecting visual effect and thermal emissivity further improved the cooling effect of the composite artificial lawn.

Ultrawhite BaSO4 Paints and Films for Remarkable Daytime Subambient Radiative Cooling

Xiangyu Li et al.

Summary: The work demonstrates remarkable full-daytime subambient cooling performance with BaSO4 nanoparticle films and BaSO4 nanocomposite paints, achieving high solar reflectance and sky window emissivity. Field tests show that the BaSO4-acrylic paint has similar cooling performance to the BaSO4 films, with excellent reliability, ease of use, and compatibility with commercial paint fabrication process. Overall, the BaSO4-acrylic paint shows a standard figure of merit of 0.77, making it one of the top radiative cooling solutions available.

Efficient radiative cooling coating with biomimetic human skin wrinkle structure

Ziming Cheng et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel approach using biomimetic wrinkle structure combined with optimized particles to achieve efficient optical property regulation in radiative cooling materials. The large-scale radiative cooling coating demonstrated high reflectance of solar irradiance and high emissivity in the atmospheric window band. Outdoor-building tests confirmed significant reductions in indoor air temperature and energy-saving rates exceeding 50% when using the coating.
