Recent progress in structural modulation of metal nanomaterials for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction

Chen-Huai Yang et al.

Summary: Metal nanomaterials have been widely used as electrocatalysts for ECR, and structural modulation including size, facet, grain boundary, composition, interface, ligand modification, and crystal phase can effectively improve catalytic performance. Designing stable and efficient catalysts is crucial for the electrochemical reduction of CO2 into high value-added products.

The nature of active sites for carbon dioxide electroreduction over oxide-derived copper catalysts

Dongfang Cheng et al.

Summary: This study reveals the active sites for CO2 electroreduction over oxide-derived copper (OD-Cu) catalysts, identifying square-like sites responsible for specific products. Planar and convex square sites are found to be responsible for ethylene production, while the step square site favors alcohols generation, providing fundamental insights into the origin of activity and selectivity over Cu-based catalysts.

B-Cu-Zn Gas Diffusion Electrodes for CO2 Electroreduction to C2+ Products at High Current Densities

Yanfang Song et al.

Summary: The study developed B-doped Cu and B-Cu-Zn gas diffusion electrodes for highly selective and stable CO2 conversion to C2+ products at industrially relevant current densities. Incorporating an optimal amount of Zn improved the long-term stability for C2+ formation, showing excellent conversion of CO2 to C2+ products on B-Cu-Zn GDEs.

Nanoporous Intermetallic Pd3Bi for Efficient Electrochemical Nitrogen Reduction

Xuejing Wang et al.

Summary: Electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction at ambient temperature is a challenging green technology for artificial nitrogen fixation due to low yield and poor selectivity. A nanoporous ordered intermetallic Pd3Bi prepared from chemically etched PdBi2 exhibits efficient electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction, achieving high activity and selectivity. Further studies show that strong coupling between Pd-Bi sites plays a crucial role in electron transfer of intermetallic Pd3Bi, improving the NRR process performance.
